ST GEORGE NOT VERY GOOD FOR LOCAL TEAMS .....

Posted by Ike Pursell at Oct 7, 2022 8:11AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

St George was not very good to the local teams. Party Time 65’s lost their three practice games then lost their first game 17 to 11 won their second game 9 to 8 and lost their third game 13 to 9. The Party Time 60’s lost their three practice games and then they lost there first game in bracket play in extra innings 12 to 10 and then we’re eliminated by the score of 15 to 12. Party Time 74’s lost their first two games in the practice round and then destroyed a team from Calgary Canada 20 to 1 .
The first out was made in the 4th inning. They lost to the eventual winner from Oregon (with Ed Daniels and Bob Nicklason) in bootom of 7th by the score of 13 to 12 and were knocked out of the tournament by Pals 74 from California 18 to 17. Triple Play won all three practice games but then lost 13 to 9 and 13 to 6 to be sent home packing. So all in all it was not a good week for the Fresno teams.

Next week Party Time ‘70s and Cut Loose ’70s will start playing on Monday and then on Wednesday Party Time 50’s ( Lee Perez’s) group will be playing, I’ll keep you informed on what goes on.

GAMES WENT OK, BUT CLOSE ON TIME . . ..

Posted by Ike Pursell at Mar 18, 2022 11:16AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Due to the City not allowing the lights to be on after 10:00 PM it change the format of the games for the 63 division on the night. We were forced to go to a 45 minute game time, and in a few of them we called open inning with time still on the clock. Thank you to the managers that agreed to go with the open inning which saved a lot of time and allowed all to get the practice games in.
We will be doing that next week when we have 4 more practice games we will be going back to regular timed games the following week as the league games start.

Pick up player rule is finalized.

Posted by Ike Pursell at Aug 5, 2021 10:45PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

The board has made the final decision for the 2021 second half. All players that were added are only allowed to be picked up for a number one. Therefore all new players can only be picked up if a team is missing their number one otherwise it’s number for number any questions talk to Brad Wells president of FSSL.

DRAFT SELECTION PROCESS

To be eligible for the draft:

A) Have paid fee and turned in a properly filed out player profile and have played in at least one (1) of the last two (2) sessions.
B) Have paid fee and turned in a properly filed out player profile and gone to a tryout.
3) Managers/sponsors and special needs tied with them will be assigned a position in the draft based on their ability. This will be done by a vote of an independent slotting committee. Order of draft will be by blind draw for position. Placing all team names in a hat with first name drawn being #1 and so on. Drafting sequence will be first to last, then last to first, then first to last, etc.
5) Should a scheduled tryout be rained out or canceled due to an act of God, and is unable to be rescheduled, then those player who have paid their fee and turned in a properly filled out player profile shall be drafted as follows:
a) After the last complete round of the draft has been completed, all remaining players and the non-tryout players will be listed in alphabetical order.
b) All team names involved in the draft shall be placed in a hat and the same procedure as above will be followed with the following exception:
If a team has drafted a female player and there are only female players left to be slotted, the team will then have the option of dropping from the remaining draft procedure.
c) + All non-tryout players will not be eligible to play as a pick up player for that session. unless team is missing a number 1.+
d) Any drafted or assigned player who chooses not to play for a team that drafted him/her or quits a league or team, unless the action is due to injury or compelling personal reason (e.g. family issues requiring his presence at a location other than the Fresno area) will be suspended by majority vote of the Board of Directors from playing in any other FSSL game for a period of one (1) year. A player may request reinstatement at the conclusion of the one year suspension by turning in a player profile for the coming season along with one (1) year’s dues which will be nonrefundable should the player again choose not to play with no mitigating circumstances- injury et al.
