MAYHIEM WINS MANTECA TOURNAMENT

Mayhem won the NCSSA tournament in Manteca and won some really nice rings.

The league has a policy of not canceling games for excessive heat. It is the players to make their own decision on whether of not they can play and use their own judgement. The manager can read the safety warning below to keep an eye on his team.

HEAT EXHAUSTION
Be alert to the following:
Signs and Symptoms of Heat Exhaustion
 Moist and clammy skin
 Pale Skin color
 Normal body temperature
 Profuse sweating
 Dizziness, nausea, weakness and fainting
DO:
 Get the athlete out of the heat into a cool, shady area
 Loosen or remove clothing and take off helmet and/or hat
 Lie the athlete down and elevate the feet.
 Cool down the athlete with wet towels, ice water, and/or
 Air-conditioning
 Transport athlete to nearest emergency room if athlete does not recover after a short rest
DO NOT:
 Give the athlete any more fluids if they vomit
 Allow athlete to become chilled
 Allow the athlete back into the game or practice
 Take this problem lightly, call for help immediately if you are unsure

HEAT STROKE
Heat stroke is life threatening! The athlete’s entire system is shutting down because of extreme heat, and death is possible if immediate action is not taken.
Signs and Symptoms of HEAT STROKE:
 Hot, dry skin and body temperature is very high (104+def F)
 Rapid pulse and breathing
 Behavior may be irrational
 Athlete may lose consciousness
 Eye pupils are constricted (very small)
 Weak, loose muscles
DO;
 Cool the athlete immediately and as quickly as possible
 Call for emergency help immediately
 Remove athlete from heat
 Put the athlete in cold water, if possible
DON NOT;
 Give the athlete fluids
 Leave the athlete
 Allow the athlete back in the game or practice
Do not underestimate the danger associated with heat and / or humidity. These dangers are recognizable and preventable. Be aware that each of your athletes has different heat tolerance levels, and be sensitive to these differences
