The Board meet last night, Friday May 19th and the following items were discussed.
President Forth discussed the coupon books and let it be known that the league makes $12.50 per book. She wants all money or books returned not later than Friday June 9th. She also reported that the lights have been adjusted, but still have a few problems to be taken care of and she will discuss it with the City and get back to us.
Ike reported that he has made ad sales so far of $1,650 and that he will personally guarantee the addition $150 to reach the 75% of cost figure. Board then approved the printing of the 30th Anniversary Booklet and he will be going to press next week.
The Board discussed the problems with the umpiring at the ball park. After a long discussion, recommendations were giving to the UIC to forward to the umpires.
Brenda Forth stated that the umpire need to get certified on the AED and know CPR. She will set up a date before June 30th. The classes are open to all members at a cost of $45 with certification being good for two year. Anyone interested please contact Brenda at 907-7633.
A discussion took place on the height of the pitch and verbal calls being made. Don Westbrook discussed painting the pole on each foul line with the proper height of the pitch for the batter.
Discussion about adding a medical alert portion to the player profile in an effort to help the league know if any condition exist that we should be aware of. Items are blood thinner, diabetic, heart valve, blood pressure, or any other condition that might be important if a player is hurt. Information will be keep private and at the ball park in case of emergency. The league has lost two members due to not knowing of these conditions.
A motion was made to remove the 6 foot lines at the bases for the fall season. The motion was passed by a vote of 13-3 and will be removed in the fall 2023 season.
It was reported that people are trying to break into the snack bar and are tearing it apart. Asked that members keep an eye on the building any time they travel bye the ball park.
The Board then approve the playoff brackets for the spring season and are posted on the web site. They then approved the following important dates.
1st player tryout to be held on Tuesday July 11th at 7:15 pm.
Last player tryout to be held on Monday July 17th at 7:15 pm.
Last chance to pay and provide player profile is Friday July 21st at 5 pm.
Draft list will be posted on web site by 11am Monday July 24th and handed out at the BBQ on Tuesday July 25th.
Draft will be held on Friday July 28th with location to be announced.
Fall season will start the week of August 7th.
Fall season profiles will be hand out the week of June 12 to all players and mailed to those new players and members who did not play in the spring season.
